Professor Mohammed Saleem Engineer 

Professor Mohammed Saleem Engineer was born on 31st August 1962 in Sawai Madhopur District, Rajasthan. He completed Bachelor of Engineering (Electrical Engineering) from Malaviya Regional Engineering College (MREC), Jaipur and obtained master degree M.Tech in the area of Communication Systems from IIT Kanpur. He received his Ph.D. in the area of 4G mobile communication technology from the Malaviya National Institute of Technology (MNIT), Jaipur.

Prof. Saleem Engineer has more than 37 years of teaching and research experience. He is presently serving as a professor in the Department of Electronics & Communication Engineering at MNIT. Earlier, he has also served as the head of the Department for three years at the same department of the institute. His more than 50 research papers have been published in the reputed national and international research journals. He has presented research papers and delivered lectures in many national and international conferences. He has guided more than 50 M.Tech theses and about 70 undergraduate projects. Five research scholars have been awarded PhD under his supervision and at present, three research scholars are pursuing their PhD under his supervision. He has been to Sheffield Hallam University, Sheffield, U.K. under the U.K.-India REC project for research work. He was a nominated member in the Rajasthan High Court’s committee for monitoring mobile tower radiation in 2012 and submitted a detailed report. He is a life member of the Indian Society for Technical Education (ISTE), a leading national professional non-profit society for overall development of the technical education system in India. 

Prof. Saleem is presently also serving the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind as its vice president. Earlier, he served the JIH as the Secretary General from 2015 to 2019 and as a national Public Relations Secretary from 2011 to 2015. He has been the state president of JIH Rajasthan for four consecutive terms from 1995 till 2011. He was the state president of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) Rajasthan from 1991 to 1993. He had joined the JIH in 1987. 

He is well-versed in Urdu, Hindi and English languages. He has published a number of articles on social and national issues in Urdu, Hindi and English periodicals.

Prof. Saleem is the national general secretary of the Forum for Democracy and Communal Amity (FDCA). The forum was launched by the Indian eminent jurists and figures following the demolition of the Babri Masjid and eruption of communal riots across the country for preserving democracy and promoting peaceful coexistence among different communities. He is also an active team member of a national body of religious leaders and gurus – Dharmik Jan Morcha.  He has a very long experience of working for strengthening communal harmony, conducting interfaith interactions and discussions and protection of human rights and civil liberties.
