22.7 lakh students to take NEET-UG; NTA urges caution against fake new

New Delhi: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has reportedly taken measures
against more than 165 Telegram channels and over 32 Instagram accounts accused
of spreading misinformation about the availability of NEET UG 2025 exam materials.
According to reports, over 22.7 lakh students have signed up to take the exam, which
is scheduled for Sunday, May 4, from 2 PM to 5 PM. The test will be conducted at
5,453 centres across India and in 13 international locations.

An official statement attributed to NTA Director General Pradeep Singh Kharola
indicated that mock drills were carried out successfully at all centres and that
comprehensive preparations and logistical arrangements have been put in place to
ensure the exam is conducted securely.
In an effort to tackle the spread of false claims regarding NEET UG 2025 exam
content, the National Testing Agency has reportedly taken action against various
Telegram and Instagram accounts through its Suspicious Claims Portal, TNIE
reported.

These cases have been forwarded to the Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre,
which operates under the Ministry of Home Affairs.
The official statement also mentioned that all state governments have been put on
alert to identify and act against individuals attempting to engage in dishonest activities related to the exam.

The agency issued a warning that anyone caught trying to deceive students with
false promises of medical admissions would be subject to strict action under the
Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, which carries severe
consequences for malpractice.

Students have been advised to stay alert and rely solely on verified information from
the NTA’s official website, avoiding untrustworthy sources and intermediaries.
