Holistic Education Trust Collaborates with JMI to Revise Urdu Medium EVS Textbooks Under NEP-2020 Framework

New Delhi, October 10, 2025 – In a significant stride toward inclusive and future-ready education, the Holistic Education Trust (HET), Delhi, in collaboration with the Academy for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers (APDUMT), Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), successfully concluded a three-day national-level workshop focused on the revision and rationalization of Environmental Studies (EVS) textbooks – Ham Aur Hamara Mahaul for Classes III and V.

Held from October 8 to 10, 2025, at the Urdu Academy’s Library-Cum-Committee Room, Noam Chomsky Complex, JMI, the workshop aligned textbook content with the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, the National Curriculum Framework for the Foundational Stage (NCFFS-2022), and the National Curriculum Framework for School Education (NCFSE-2023).

The workshop was the third in a series and marked a significant milestone in the ongoing efforts of the Holistic Education Trust to enhance learning materials for Urdu-medium students, ensuring cultural relevance, age-appropriateness, and alignment with 21st-century educational priorities.

Prof. Jasim Ahmad, Honorary Director of APDUMT, JMI, welcomed participants and emphasized the importance of grounding textbooks in India’s cultural heritage while addressing contemporary environmental challenges and skill development. The sessions were coordinated by Janab Inamullah Falahi, Dr. Abdul Wahid Nazeer, and Dr. Hina Afrin, with a wide range of resource persons from across disciplines contributing to content development through group activities and plenary discussions.

The Holistic Education Trust, known for its commitment to inclusive and equitable education, played a key role in curating and facilitating the workshop. Speaking on behalf of the Trust, representatives reiterated their dedication to creating accessible, high-quality educational resources in regional languages, particularly Urdu.

The workshop concluded with a comprehensive draft of revised chapters for Classes III and V, integrating both new and updated content based on expert recommendations. The finalized chapters are expected to be reviewed in the forthcoming workshop for publication and dissemination.

The workshop closed with a vote of thanks by Dr. Abdul Wahid Nazeer, who acknowledged the invaluable contributions of all participants and the continued support of JMI’s leadership, including Vice Chancellor Prof. Mazhar Asif and Registrar Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi.
