Hyderabad: The Telangana Zone of Students Islamic Organisation of India (SIO) has submitted a formal representation to the State Education Department, seeking a revision of the Secondary School Certificate (SSC) March 2026 examination schedule. The organisation has expressed concerns that the current month-long duration of the public examinations could adversely affect the mental well-being and academic focus of students.
In its memorandum addressed to the Principal Secretary of Education, Dr. Yogita Rana, and the Director of Government Examinations, the SIO highlighted that excessively long gaps between papers often lead to a loss of momentum.
“While transparency and discipline in conducting exams are commendable, the evaluation process must not become a source of psychological distress. Prolonged schedules force students into a cycle of repetitive revision, which often results in burnout, self-doubt, and diminished concentration,” the organisation stated.
The SIO specifically drew attention to the plight of students enrolled in residential schools, minority hostels, and welfare institutions. A stretched schedule mandates that these students remain away from their families for an extended period, which can take a toll on their emotional health.
Furthermore, the delegation pointed out that a month-long examination window imposes an avoidable administrative and logistical burden on school managements and teaching staff tasked with invigilation duties.
The delegation, led by PR Secretary Faisal Khan and Assistant PR Secretary Abdul Ghani Mutahir, urged the authorities to revert to the previous format where examinations were concluded within a window of 16 to 17 days.
The organisation maintained that a more compact schedule would help maintain the “academic rhythm” of the students, ensuring they approach their first major public examination with confidence rather than exhaustion. The Education Department is yet to issue an official response regarding the feasibility of rescheduling the examinations.
