
Maulana Afzal Husain, born on 2nd January 1918 in Basti District, Uttar Pradesh, was a distinguished Islamic scholar and educator. A graduate of Aligarh Muslim University, where he earned a Gold Medal in B.A. (Honours) English, he later pursued an M.A. and a teaching degree from Allahabad University. After a successful career in government education, he joined Jamaat-e-Islami in 1944 and became the first Director of Darsgah-e-Islami, shaping its educational curriculum and contributing significantly to Islamic education.
In 1964, Maulana Afzal was appointed Assistant Secretary General of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind and later served as Secretary General from 1972 until his passing in 1990. His contributions to education and the Islamic community have left a lasting legacy.
