New Delhi, September 3, 2024 – Syed Tanveer Ahmed, Secretary of the Markazi Taleemi Board, participated in a two-day workshop organized by the Children’s Islamic Organisation (CIO) at the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind (JIH) headquarters. Held on August 31st and September 1st, the workshop focused on equipping mentors with the skills necessary to address the modern challenges children face in today’s digital world.
Empowering Mentors for Today’s Challenges
In his address, Syed Tanveer Ahmed spoke on the importance of understanding child psychology, child development stages, and the changing dynamics of childhood in the age of the internet. He emphasized that mentors must act as both motivators and counsellors, guiding children with compassion and insight. “Successful mentors are not only knowledgeable but possess the necessary skills and attitudes to truly connect with children,” he stated. Ahmed also underscored the need for holistic training that integrates spiritual, intellectual, and emotional growth.
Drawing on his experience with the Markazi Taleemi Board, Ahmed highlighted the significance of nurturing children’s moral and spiritual foundations, especially in today’s fast-paced, technology-driven world. He stressed the importance of fostering a sense of responsibility and purpose among young people, aligning with the core values of the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind’s education philosophy.
Insights on the Role of Mentors
Ahmed’s presentation complemented the broader discussions held at the workshop, where other key speakers, including S. Ameenul Hasan, Vice President of JIH, and Mohiuddin Ghazi, Editor of Zindagi Nau, explored the intricacies of child psychology, spiritual development, and practical mentoring strategies. The event also saw the participation of CIO Assistant Secretary Dr. Mubashara Firdous and Hina Farhan, a member of the Children’s Committee, who provided further guidance on building effective community-oriented mentoring programs.
A Comprehensive Approach to Mentorship
As part of the training session, Syed Tanveer Ahmed encouraged mentors to take a proactive role in promoting children’s positive engagement with their community, society, and faith. He also pointed out the need for children to learn how to balance their lives in the digital age, advocating for a healthy integration of technology with traditional values and principles.
