MTB, FMEII, AIITA Jointly Host Lecture on Use of AI in Teaching

The online program organized by the Markazi Taleemi Board (MTB), All India Ideal Teachers Association (AIITA), and Federation of Muslim Educational Institutions of India (FMEII) on March 10th focused on exploring how Artificial Intelligence (AI) can assist teachers. This event, part of the Teachers Empowerment Lecture Series, featured Dr. Mohammad Abdul Sami Siddiqui, Director of the Centre for Professional Development of Urdu Medium Teachers at Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), as the keynote speaker.

During his presentation, Dr. Siddiqui elucidated on the concept of Artificial Intelligence, its contemporary challenges, and its potential as a tool for educators. He highlighted that AI is essentially a product of repetitive inputs, emphasizing its familiarity in various forms such as customer services, citing examples like booking gas cylinders via WhatsApp.

Dr. Siddiqui delineated three main forms of AI: text-to-text represented by OpenAI’s ChatGPT, text-to-image represented by DALA2, and text-to-video. He underscored the utility of AI tools like ChatGPT and Gamma for tasks ranging from messaging to creating presentations and documents.

Providing practical insights, Dr. Siddiqui demonstrated how teachers could leverage AI, particularly ChatGPT, for educational purposes such as crafting lesson plans. He stressed the importance of specificity in input messages to obtain desired output from AI tools, suggesting that while ChatGPT can provide basic information, teachers must review and edit it as needed.

Concluding his remarks, Dr. Siddiqui reassured educators that embracing new technologies like AI should not evoke fear, as they streamline tasks, save time, and offer valuable information with minimal effort. His expertise on the subject has garnered attention, with his article published in several newspapers and an invitation from Oxford University, England, to present his paper.

The online lecture attracted a significant audience of teachers from across the country, who expressed interest in more such informative sessions.
